The concept of combining digital audio playback capabilities with advanced sun protection for your eyes probably arrived out of the convenience of proximity, but whatever the reason, the Oakley mp3 sunglass is here to stay.
The latest to come out of the Oakley factories is the Thump Pro, which is an improvement on the Thump 2. Both of them are a combination of Oakley’s performance optics and comfort oriented frame geometries, and are integrated with digital mp3 electronics. The company has beefed up memory capacity, adjusted the ear buds and if they are lucky, convinced their fans to shell out another chunk of cash for the latest glasses.

Before we can tell you how the Oakley Thump Pro 1GB Sunglasses are an improvement over their predecessor, we need to revisit the previous generation. All in all, the Thump 2 was a great concept and a decent product. Although consumer’s comments range from ice cold to raving hot. Thump 2 delivered, mostly as promised. It has nice optics, (we expect nothing less from Oakley) a comfortable design that is light weight and resistant to sweat, and can be fit with different compatible lenses. It also has a memory capacity of 512 mb, enough to hold about 120 songs.
A good product according to many an mp3 sunglasses review. However, many customers were quick to point out that most of these features were mediocre at best. Still, for every sourpuss, there were thousands of satisfied fans, and this leads us to Oakley’s Thump Pro.
Oakley Thump Pro
With double the memory of the first Thumper, you can cram twice as many songs into your sunglasses (about 240.) Like the original, the Pro is iTunes and Windows compatible, and will also work with AAC, WMA and Audible file formats. Either model has enough battery life to withstand long workouts, and a recharge takes about three hours.

For the lighter weight, greater memory capacity and latest design, the Thump Pro is impressive. If you prefer a smaller investment, the older Thump 2 can probably be purchased at a discount, while still supplying plenty of music storage and quality audio. Either way, you will have one stylish pair of shades.
